A subsequent investigation revealed that Lackey was acquainted with Newman’s son and grandson, who said they had discussed in front of Lackey that the elder Newman was “well off” financially. Halloween News - Why I would rather just cover my eyes - University of North Carolina The Daily Tar Heel

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

I would curl up on the sofa, my finger anxiously resting above the remote so that when the first sign of fear or terror came forward, I could swiftly flip the channel to a more serene scene. But the escape route was too perfect, and I found myself enjoying the gentle comedy of Nick at Nite before Drew could even answer the phone. So I agreed to go with a group of friends to see “The Grudge” during Halloween weekend my freshman year. As the packed theater gasped, jolted and screamed in unison, I was crumpled behind the seat, hidden along with discarded drinks and sprinklings of popcorn. I considered running to the lobby to wait out the rest of the movie, but the fear of what I might see if I sat up was enough to keep me in the fetal position. Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

TORONTO Stargazers used to looking at the Red Planet will have something different to look at on Wednesday night a red moon. Terence Dickinson, the editor of Canadian astronomy magazine SkyNews, says “it will look like a Halloween pumpkin hanging up there high in the sky. NASA says there’s been no volcanic activity to throw up dust and spoil the show by muting the moon’s colours this time. Although the eclipse will last for three hours, the best of the lunar pyrotechnics will only be visible for about 50 minutes. (Halloween News) Goodnight, moon - Globe and Mail

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

The long shadow of the Earth will sweep across the full moon and transform the normally bright lunar surface into an eerie red or rusty brown colour. For a lunar eclipse to occur, the Earth must be precisely aligned between the sun and the moon in order to block the solar rays from striking the lunar surface. On the West Coast, the moon will be just rising above the horizon at the beginning of the show. Despite the different positions of the moon in the sky, everyone across Canada should be able to see the eclipse, so long as it isn’t cloudy. The ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle realized the world was round when he saw the Earth’s curved shadow on the surface of the moon. In the East, the spectacle will take place relatively high in the sky while, in the West, the moon will be low on the horizon as it begins to move into Earth’s shadow. More Halloween News

Topic: Halloween News - Your Turn: ‘Post’ columnist’s ‘ironic commentary’ is ‘absurd’ - The Post Online

Monday, February 18th, 2008

This brilliant character she has created, that week in and out says some of the most laughable and entertaining thoughts, is wonderful. I know good comedy, and I assure you this is some of the finest this school has ever produced. Or the part where she cherry-picks averted tragedies and deems them examples of Godâs power, while ignoring all the other atrocities that occur daily. This was the funniest column sheâs written since the one when she condemned the Halloween celebrations in Athens, even though sheâs never been to one. More Halloween News

Associating Yourself To Halloween

Saturday, February 16th, 2008
by Adam Peters

This article is about the celeberation of halloween. The decoration on the occasion is discussed.

Halloween is one of the most anticipated occasions for me and my family, though not many people have the same feelings towards it, but it also depends on how you perceive and associate yourself with it. Every individual is different and had different opinion about many topics; one such could also involve festivals and other cultural occasions. Halloween as everybody knows brings about an occasion of trick or treat. It provides opportunities for kids and adults alike to dress up in not a formal or informal rather in something which is totally not appropriate, just to have fun and to keep the very sprit of Halloween alive. We take Halloween as an opportunity to enjoy and have lots of fun. The most enjoyable part is getting dressed up and decorating the entire place with stuffs like spiders which in ordinary days no one even thinks about putting them up, but again its Halloween and that’s the best part about it. It is exciting to see others also participate and decorate their homes nicely with innovative ideas like turning homes into grave yards, placing trees, spider webs and also creating fog through a fog machine. All these things make the entire occasion spooky and exciting which in turn enhances the whole idea of Halloween. Besides the ‘treat’ part is also given considerable thought and exceptional goodies are distributed. Coming up with innovative ideas and brilliant idea is not easy its quite a task it has to be taken seriously and at the same time be enjoyed as well other wise; why go through the trouble. It is the uniqueness in the decorativeness and the excitement created by it that parents take their children for trick or treat to different homes. But children are not sent alone as it is not safe and there are party spoilers who make the party lose its fun for everyone. Halloween is the only time of the year where you could let your imagination run wild and be inventive. Though you are restrained by your budget but interesting things and objects could be found from specialty shops or could be surfed online for different things which you might have not even thought about. Your dreams can take a practical shape. By the increase in innovation and the total cost of products have come down due to out sourcing of product to countries like China and other places it provides opportunity for people who cannot afford that much also to buy some thing. Through internet surfing many things could be found around the world, which would surprise many people as theses things are not sometime available in their home countries and also increased facilities like home transport and deliveries, from which you could order anything at anytime sitting at your home and you could also avail and utilize the product in a shorter time period. He entire purpose being to keep the sprit of Halloween alive by ordering and buying stuff and also deco rising homes in such a way that it give a totally different look and doesn’t give an old look all the time.

(Halloween News) 4 Reasons Why Crocs Will Rock Next Week - Motley Fool

Saturday, February 16th, 2008

Color me naive — or color me in any of the loud and funky colors that Crocs footwear is available in — but I think the company will achieve redemption after Tuesday’s report. However, now that the shares have fallen by more than 56% off their October highs, the market is already pricing in the continuation of inventory and accounts receivable hiccups. Perhaps one of the more puzzling divergences after the company’s Halloween scare is that investors bailed, while the pros stuck to their forward expectations. Could it be that analysts’ decision to assume that a good chunk of the bloated inventory was related to overseas expansion and new product lines was an attempt to make sure Crocs didn’t live and die by its flagship Cayman and Beach models of hole-laden, croslite resin shoes? And before you peg the analysts following the company as gullible, keep in mind that they have understated the company’s actual earnings power for seven consecutive quarters. I just think that even a Crocs hitting on a few cylinders will be enough to re-engage investors with a stock that they abandoned long before the analysts — and the fundamentals — packed their bags to move on.
