(Halloween News) A Spoiler Regarding Two Face, and Halloween Costumes For The Dark … - /FILM

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

I’d prefer the movie be able to focus on the plot at hand, which is The Joker. Dent is a good part of the plot and all, but save the actual character for when he can be a true antagonist. Plus if I was sending out Halloween masks to shops I would only send stuff that relates to what people have seen, so if there was a Two Face mask why send it out knowing VERYONE will see it in a shop before a Trailer or even the movie…. My guess is that the shop owner is right, but not because he has the inside scoop but because it’s very safe to assume that Two Face will only have a few minutes. I could seroiusly see Two face making an appearance halfway through the movie and being the catalyst to Batman almost giving up like they suggest in the trailer. I have seen the bootleg and wanted to see it in the theater but I have no IMAX theaters near me. More Halloween News

Mascots Impact on Corporations Business Image

Saturday, March 29th, 2008
by Amy Nutt

Mascots Embody Corporations and Their Ideas

Mascots on a corporate level serve as a way to embody the corporation’s motto, values, and ideas. Most corporations have their mascots designed around a central theme, item, or belief they wish to convey to their customer base. An example would be McDonald’s using Ronald McDonald as their symbol to convey they are a fun place to eat to children and families. Society comes to look at the mascot as an embodiment of what the corporation represents. It’s possible that the mascot may be associated with many other products and images in the minds of consumers. Mascots must set forth a positive image that heightens happiness and an overall optimistic attitude within the consumer culture. This is why mascots impact on corporations can be either highly positive or largely negative.

Animals, People, and Clowns aren’t the Only Mascots Characterizing Corporations

As society evolves, so do the mascots that corporations decide to use. Animals, people, and clowns aren’t the only mascots characterizing Corporate America. Robots, blow up balloon characters, and slides and mazes for children with corporate symbols are becoming the way of the future.

I.M. Mascot

With technological advancements robots are becoming more appealing and sophisticated. They are being designed in many shapes, sizes, colors. Some have a robotic look while others may look human. The fact that they can interact with the public make them viable candidates for mascots. Public reactions to robots as mascots for corporations, hospitals, and media events is overwhelmingly positive. Many times the robots are rented for a short or long term stint for an event. The robot may be designed specifically with a corporation in mind. They are very interactive with people, and many are designed with psychology, communication, and therapy in mind. This gives a very personalized effect to the robot that people can relate to. Also, since many robots are interactive they may be able to say slogans for the corporation or help market products and services with their words and actions.

Balloons Stand Tall as Corporate Mascots

Many corporations have larger than life balloons outside of their stores, branch offices, and corporate headquarters. The balloon may have a cartoon character, symbol, or other mascot to help advertise the wares and services of the corporation. Balloons are often anywhere from ten feet tall to several stories tall. Often they are anchored down to the ground with ropes that extend from the balloon, and are pegged into a well-grounded area. They can be very eye-catching if someone is just driving alongside of the road, and the mascot may catch them by surprise. It is an effective marketing tool since it may jog the person’s memory back to the product of service the corporation is selling either that day or in the future.

Slides and Mazes Amaze the Tiniest of Consumers

Slides and mazes which are constructed from corporate events will attract the attention of the tiniest of consumers. It’s possible to have the corporate mascot attached onto the slide or maze emblazing the corporate symbol into the minds of children at corporate events. Also, since children will be having fun playing on the slides or in the mazes, they will associate the corporation with fun times and good feelings. It is an effective marketing tool and well worth the money spent. Not to mention it occupies children and leaves parents open for other types of marketing at corporate events.

Makeovers for Corporate Mascots

When corporations have been in business for several years, their mascots have become the epitome of what the corporation is and stands for. This is very important in a day and age when people are always in a hurry. They are likely to gravitate to companies that have mascots they associate with longevity and quality. However, with new generations it may be important for corporations to give their mascots a makeover. McDonalds has done this recently with Ronald McDonald. Amid the controversy of obesity related to fast food among children, McDonalds is working hard to portray Ronald McDonald as a mascot of moderation and healthy practices. Recent ads show him eating with children and instead of french fries and soda they are eating fruit and drinking milk.

But police really needed to get deep inside the neighborhood and push through cultural and language barriers in the Back of the Yards. So around Christmas, South Side commanders sent two detectives and a tactical officer — two spoke Spanish, and the other had a special knack at getting people to talk — to work the neighborhood. Police said Avila, a member of the Latin Saints street gang, was firing at a rival from the 2-6 gang in the neighborhood, when an errant bullet struck Barrera. Barrera, who was four months pregnant, had just made it home and was trying to open the wrought-iron gate in her front yard in the 4800 block of South Seeley when shots rang out. More Halloween News

Halloween News - Stratford employees get awareness class - Connecticut Post

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

Miron revealed Tuesday that all full-time workers and some part-timers, including the entire 100-member police and fire departments, were required to attend half-day training sessions over the past eight weeks. The mayor said the training, conducted by the Justice Department’s Community Relations Service, is an outgrowth of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and was provided at no cost. Miron said he was “strongly advised” by the Justice Department not to release details of the training sessions, or that they were even being conducted. One was a March 2006 brawl in the South End that ended in the arrest of Councilman Alvin O’Neal, D-2, and then-15-year-old Titasheen Mitchell, both of whom are black. The homeowners, Joyce Mounajed and Jennifer Cervero, at first insisted the decoration was only part of their elaborate Halloween decor and vowed not to succumb to pressure by the community and police to take it down. The training sessions conducted by the Justice Department were the third and final phase of a three-part plan to address racial and cultural diversity in Stratford. More Halloween News

Administrator: University should take Halloween break - SIU - Daily Egyptian(Halloween News)

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

But the vice chancellor for Student Affairs said his reasons have nothing to do with the stigma surrounding the holiday. Rather, Dietz said, a fall break would allow students - especially freshmen unaccustomed to university workloads - to catch up on sleep and studying at a time when many might feel overwhelmed. After a brief break from the breaks in 1993 and 1994, the university continued to close around Halloween from 1995 to 2001. The proposal for a fall break would need to be submitted by the chancellor, then approved by the president and Board of Trustees, said Paula Keith, administrative assistant to SIU President Glenn Poshard. Don Rice, interim provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, said he had never considered the idea of a fall break and never worked at a university that had one. Rice, who has assumed the duties of Chancellor Fernando Treviño while he is on administrative leave, said downsides to a break would include a shortened semester and the possibility that students would be away during home sporting events. The great Easter TV hunt - Winnipeg Sun- Topic: Halloween News

Monday, March 24th, 2008

And to be blunt, It’s The Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown is a poor sister to the classic animated Peanuts specials that covered Christmas (1965) and Halloween (1966). Did you ever notice, by the way, that in the later Charlie Brown specials, it sounds as if the kids have been smoking weed? By the time Easter rolls around, the sleepy pace of the conversation sounds like something out of a Cheech & Chong movie. The point is, when you’re 6 or 7-years-old, all of these holidays tend to have equal weight until you’re mature enough to sort it out. Is Internet hosting service Network Solutions wrong to suspend the website which was to carry Dutch filmmaker Geert Wilders’ film criticizing Islam’s scripture, the Qu’ran?
