Only visit people you know when allowing your children to trick or treat. Kids enjoy getting sweets from a wide amount of locations. Sometimes we like to know how much can we get and than compare it with our other friends. If you take your children to the homes of all your family members, friends, and neighbors that you trust, they are sure to get lots of candy.

Direct the older children to keep track of the younger ones. Young children love spending time with older siblings. You can benefit from this, on Halloween. Latch a younger child to an older one for going around the surrounding areas. When have your youngest child hang out with an older brother, make the older sibling responsible to look out for the traffic and suspicious people.

Talk with your children before heading out. The children need to be made aware of certain basic principals for safety, each child should watch when he has to cross the street, should not talk to people not known to him ,unless you are with him,and also watch out for and dangerous dogs. Setting the ground rules right before going out will ensure the child remembers.

Before letting kids dive into candy collected from strangers, it should be carefully checked. Constantly examine the candy completely before permitting your child to eat any of it, when you go to go to homes of people you arent acquainted with. If the candy looks like it has been opened, re-packaged, or just doesn’t look right, you need to toss it out right away.

Have the older sibling carry a cell phone with them. The oldest of the trick or treaters should have a cell phone close if the kids go trick or treating by themselves. You will have peace of mind when you are aware that they can contact you if necessary, and they will relaxed knowing someone is just a call away.

Finding the perfect Halloween costume can be a challenge! So many choices, only one spooky day to dress up! As a general rule only one Halloween outfit per person is required , although some people chose to wear different ones in the daytime to the one they wear in the evening for trick or treating or partying . Now that Summer has come to an end, students are back in school, and the leaves are beginning to turn, it is important to start preparing costumes for the most popular holiday for children, Halloween.

You have a wealth of costumes available to you nowadays. It seems every cartoon character, superhero, and young teen-pop star has a costume dedicated to themselves. A costume that is already assembled is the easiest way to give a child a dream costume, as well as a simple option for parents with a hectic schedule.

What if your local store is unable to meet with your child’s needs? The widest variety of costumes are available on the Web. Every conceivable costume you can imagine can be found with just a click of your mouse. For a unique costume that will not turn your child into another Halloween clone, you should do your shopping on line.

When Halloween comes along, you will need to fund the costuming of your little ones. Costume prices range from very affordable to unbelievably expensive. if we prefer the better quality, we should pay some extra price. If your child is going to be using the costume for more than just a couple of hours, it’s advisable to spend a bit more on an outfit that’s not going to start unraveling ten minutes after he or she puts it on.

It is possible to give your child the costume they want, without breaking the bank. Making use of your creative juice is really what matters here. Come up with options that take advantage of what you already have on hand, like old formal wear. your small girl will look like a princess in a old prom gown. Just a tad of time and work and you can make your own unique creations that your child will enjoy.

Regardless of age, the one most important thing to consider when selecting a costume is comfort. The point of Halloween is to enjoy an evening of make-believe with friends and family. Sore feet from badly fitting shoes or make-up that is uncomfortable, are definite causes of a great evening turning sour fast. Pick comfortable clothing that fits properly and is seasonable to your location. Be sure to be dressed right for the upcoming weather. A dress rehearsal is always a great idea to work out the kinks of your vision before the big night.

How To Choose A Fun & Creative Children’s Halloween Costumes

by Phil Sikes

Picking a Halloween costume isn’t that hard. You’ll have lots of help. Trust me, lots, and lots of help. Kids can’t wait to tell you what they, “simply have to be” for Halloween this year. They are bound and determined for you to use their idea, probably just as much as you are not to let this get out of hand.

If you explain you ground rules to your children before Halloween time rolls around, you will be better able to reach a decision about the costume that all parties involved will be satisfied with.

Before you even start to look at costumes, you need to establish a hard and fast budget for costume spending. This is because, even though it might be the perfect costume, spending an exorbitant amount of money on an outfit that is only going to be worn a few short days at most does not make a lot of financial sense. After you decide how much you are willing to spend, offer your children lots of options, bearing in mind that you might have to steer them clear of costumes that are not appropriate for their age. Try to make the entire costume selection process as fun as possible.

There are also safety concerns to be considered depending on how old your children are. Think about whether or not a costume could cause a child to trip and fall while walking or perhaps even suffocate them. Consider the weight of the costume and whether or not it will be too hot to wear. Especially with girls, it is important to think about whether or not your child will be too exposed in their costume. This often occurs because costume manufacturers aim their designs at adult audiences. Think seriously about how your daughter will look. While you and your child might be fine with some, others might make you uncomfortable.

You might decide to shop online this year for your Halloween costumes, and if you do, you’ve probably made a wise decision. The choice online is many times greater, and by starting your shopping now you’ll be able to have the pick of the best available costumes this year. Many online sites have not only great selections, but fast shipping, low prices and incredibly creative ideas, available in all sizes.

Some of the most creative designs will be found online as opposed to the department stores and seasonal Halloween shops that spring up this time of year. Those stores have to market the latest, most popular costumes, as they can’t afford to take a flyer on a costume that may or may not sell. Online, that’s not the case.

While looking around a local department store you might find little more than costumes of princesses, pirates, and wizards, online shopping yields a host of costumes for kids. Some easy to find examples include a shark, a gumball machine, a cell phone, the Statue of Liberty, characters from The Wizard of Oz, and colonial outfits. By spending a little bit of time on your costume search, you can find a fun and unique costume.

Take your time, shop early and make this Halloween an event your child will remember!

3 Timeless Halloween Traditions

Friday, September 19th, 2008
by John Dawson

Each year leaves seems to transform into gold and bronze confetti like colors after the balmy summer has finished Witches, imps and skulls all become the focal point of shop displays . The neighbors’ doorsteps are host to smiling pumpkins, while paper bats are hanging threateningly from all imaginable belfries. Each of the mentioned are signs of the arrival of the Halloween season.

One of the oldest of all traditional holidays, Halloween is also one of the most mysterious. While most people do not seem to mind, its beginning has proved to be elusive for centuries. Even though there is a contradiction like christian holiday and all saints day in the reason of Halloween, this is one of the funniest evening festival. Here is a look at some of the most popular Halloween traditions.

The Jack-o-lantern is perhaps the most common of all Halloween symbols. It is made from a pumpkin carved to look like a ghoulish face. The inner pulp is taken out and exchanged for a lit candle. The lighted faces are frightening to many a nighttime passerby. An abundance of pumpkins initiated the popularity of the Jack-o-lantern in the U.S. at harvest time. In the 1800s the cross-section of the virtual cornucopia of pumpkins and the celebration of Halloween developed into the beautiful relationship we now honor.

The Halloween costume is one of the most anticipated aspects of Halloween. Thought to have caught on from the adoption of the Celtic tradition of dressing in costumes for celebration, the Halloween costume is also thought to be convenient way to disguise ones identity for playing innocent pranks. Costumes include such things as goblins, wicked witches and spooky ghosts, as well as a large selection of well-known pop-culture super heroes and characters.

Sure, you can find lots of great store-bought costumes anytime after September first, but the most impressive costumes are always homemade. Uniqueness, out of the box thinking and resourcefulness are the most important factors.

Finally, many people regard as the best part of Halloween to be the traditional practice otherwise known as “Trick-or-Treating.Usually pre-teen age kids and children go from house to house , adorned in costumes appropriate to the season, requesting treats and goodies in exchange for being let off the traditional Halloween tricks and japes . Many adults gather goodies and hand them out, pretending to be frightened of the two-foot goblin standing on their front porch with his mask askew. Obtaining candy on Halloween is a favorite activity for many children, as well as one that will probably be treasured for the rest of their lives.

Teenage Halloween Costume Ideas: How to Choose

Thursday, September 18th, 2008
by Phil Sikes

If you’ve been tasked to try and find the perfect teenage Halloween costume for either yourself or your teen, then know first that this is not an impossible task. You can find exactly what you’re after with a combination of searching online or maybe a little store shopping. With some added creativity on your part, before you know it, the perfect costume will be yours!

First you need to decide on a theme, in other words, what general category you would like to dress as this year. This just helps keep you from looking at everything that’s out there and help to focus the search a little.

The next decision you need to make is whether you would prefer to purchase the costume in a local costume shop or by means of an Internet store. Buying a Halloween costume on the Internet has its advantages, such as having access to more costumes, buying from a retailer with a larger stock of costumes, and being able to find what is typically the best price. You can find a plethora of online costume shops by doing a Google search for “teenage Halloween costumes.”

After doing such a search, you should stick to the results on the first few pages. You can refine your search, however, if you would like a very specific costume. For example, searching for “teenage Marie Antoinette Halloween costume” might help you find that special, hard to find costume that you are hunting for. Try out some similar searches and see if you can’t find something interesting.

Modern themed costumes include movie, sports, and music stars. Basically anyone that has received recent public attention in the media is a good candidate for a teenage Halloween costume. For instance, your teenager could dress as the Barack Obama girl, Michael Vick’s dog trainer, Al Gore’s son, Paris Hilton dressed as a convict, and Lindsay Lohan’s drug rehab counselor.

The news is rife with ideas like these and some not quite so much capitalizing on their misfortunes. Try and make your costumes as clever as you can, incorporating as much detail and imagination as you can into them. Don’t settle for the store bought costume and leave it at that. Make sure to go the extra mile and do the makeup, appropriate props, and anything else that will help get your point across.

Take the idea about Lindsay Lohan’s drug rehab counselor, for example. Accessories for this costume could include a police mug shot of Lindsay. You might design a fake dead dog for Michael Vick’s dog trainer to drag around on a leash. These types of clever and unique accessories turn a normal costume into a big conversation piece.

Remember to try on your costume before the night of Halloween. You want to be able to make any adjustments necessary before the last minute. Use these suggestions to make your teenage Halloween costume truly memorable.

by Phil Sikes

After you have worked so hard to make sure that your kids are happy with their costumes and prepared for all the Halloween fun that awaits them, why not take some time to make the holiday enjoyable for you too? Think about what kind of costume you can wear to enjoy the holiday more yourself this year.

Adult Halloween costumes can be found in nearly unlimited variety. Adult costumes are available in all shapes and sizes with all kinds of different themes. The only limit is your budget.

You can find a vast array of potential adult Halloween costume ideas by searching online at costume shops. By spending some time going through all the different possibilities, you will be able to find a Halloween costume that you and others will have fun with.

There are costumes for almost anything you might dream up. From Biblical characters to the latest superheroes, you simply need to decide what you want to do. If you are a couple planning on doing something together, there are many great ideas. In a few minutes searching online I saw plug and socket costumes, Mustard and Ketchup, Dog the Bounty Hunter and Beth, Lock and Key couples, Ball and Chain and many more, just from one vendor. You also might get very creative and dress up as more contemporary figures right out if the news. Lindsay Lohan and her rehab Counselor come to mind.

In women’s adult Halloween costumes, the choices and many and breathtaking. While most of them lean to the sexy side of things, there are exceptions if you don’t want to dress up like all the girls you just saw down on the corner. Some of the more interesting choices I saw while briefly browsing include an Elf, Hula Girl, Mermaid, Medusa, Ghostly Victorian lady, Wicked Witch from Oz, The Virgin Mary, Marilyn Monroe and many , many more!

Mens costumes are equally varied, some following movie themes, some just being outright wacky. Some examples include Darth Vader or any other Star Wars character, Tony Montana, the Incredible Hulk, Spiderman, a Viking, a monk, a gladiator, the grim reaper, an outhouse, and basically whatever other interesting costume concept you can dream up.

Remember that you are going to have to wear this costume while you have a good time at a Halloween party, so it should fit comfortably and not be overly hot to wear. Since a lot of popular Halloween costumes require quite a bit of makeup, it would be in your best interests to start dressing up well before you leave the house. Especially for the guys, getting some help with the makeup from someone else is a good idea.

Above all else, never lose sight of the fact that the whole point of wearing an adult Halloween costume is having fun. So, in the midst of the all you preparations, dont forget to have fun too!

Planning Fun & Creative Halloween Activities

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008
by Phil Sikes

Concerns about the celebration of Halloween festivities today in the modern world have led to some changes, though it remains a popular celebration. Halloween is especially popular in Ireland, where it gave rise to a public holiday, and in most parts of America. Also, Halloween has become another very important day in the commercial promotions calendar.

In England, the community bon fire tradition at Halloween mostly moved to the November 5th Guy Fawkes celebrations long ago, and has largely faded elsewhere in the face of environmental concerns. Similarly, the traditional community games and fun associated with Halloween have faded in most parts of the world.

Modern health concerns have almost completely eliminated older outdoor traditions like bobbing for apples and have replaced them with modern ones like watching horror films in the home. Since community activities that involved the use of fruit and other natural items are no longer celebrated, trick-or-treating now focuses on the search for candy and sweets on a personal level by local children.

A growing number of people show an overall dislike for the idea of trick-or-treating since it seems like a threatening form of begging to them. Children, however, have always loved the fun of collecting candy door to door in scary or funny costumes. Thus, many homeowners have turned trick-or-treating into a fun event for all parties involved by decorating their homes quite extensively and adding frightening details like creepy sound effects. Some people even dress up in costumes in an effort to scare the kids that visit the home to ask for treats.

The safety of children moving from door-to-door to collect sweets and gifts from strangers in large city communities worries many parents and authorities. In some communities there is supervision and even a move to set up controlled environments where the collection takes place. As a sign of the times, even health issues have been raised about the handling and safety of unwrapped sweets.

Charity fund raising involvement has cut back in the face of these concerns becoming more widespread, for example a long running UNICEF fund raising scheme centered on Halloween collections was cut back in 2006.

In some parts of the world the trick aspect to Halloween has unfortunately led to vandalism taking the place of minor mischief or witty pranks, and has given Halloween another less attractive image.

In some communities, Halloween has not been welcomed as a pop culture event because of the possible unpleasant results it can potentially produce.
