Eighty Seven - Game Halloween Costumes: Easy And Stylish Adult Halloween Costumes

by Ryan Benjamin

For a fast and easy costume as Halloween approaches consider game adult Halloween costumes. These are easy to put together and though they’ve been done many times there are always more old classics and new trends to use. In fact, you can use a new game each year. If ease of construction and inexpensive projects are your goals, this is the costume for you.

How do you turn a game into a costume? You wear it! Choose a favorite game and use the parts, pieces and accessories of that game as your costume. It can be a game from childhood adapted quickly or a more complex design of an internet game character you play. There is no limit to the number of games that can be interpreted for Halloween.

For board games or games that include small parts or pieces you can attach those pieces to your clothing. Punch holes in the game board, add rope, yarn or twine and let it hang from your shoulders. This works best using two of the game boards - one each for back and front. Decorate your neck or your hat with monopoly money or carry stacks of it in your hand to pass out as you go.

Twister dresses are another option. This nostalgic classic is one of the easier costumes to create. The board for Twister starts out big and flexible. Cut a hole in the middle and wear it, or become a “Twister Ghost” by adding eye holes. If you want to get really fancy, actually sew the mat into a dress or smock.

All of the game Halloween costumes require destruction of the game itself so you might want to browse yard sales and thrift shops for cheap used games. After all, you don’t care if there is a piece or two missing - you aren’t going to play the game, you’re going to wear it! Ebay and Craig’s List are other good sources for cheap used games but remember to check shipping charges to make sure the total cost is low.

Another popular Halloween game costume is the video game outfit. With gaming popularity increasing you can create a costume for your favorite game character. You might be the Monkey from Money Ball, or a popular video game warrior or the Master Chief of Halo. Add a head piece with talking bubbles or icons from the game and see how many people can guess who you are. When you choose the video game route the options to use are endless and can be as obvious or as obfuscated as you choose.

Those of the older generation may not recognize any of your video game characters but a young crowd will know what you are doing. Thus, your choice of using a traditional action or board game or an internet wonder series may depend on who will be at the party you attend.

Whether going for classic games that we all remember or hacking into video and animation for your creative game Halloween costumes, keep cost in mind. Buy used games to build your costume rather than destroying usable versions you may own. Browse thrift stores and resale shops to find basic clothing you can add to in creating video characters. Pound the pavement as a trick or treater, be Super Mario or Monopoly Man, speak as your character would and have a great time with it. Edited by Hetsil Protage
