Halloween Costumes Turn People Into Myths

by Adriana Noton

Consumers have been dressing-up for Halloween for a long time. They have drawn inspiration for their disguises from ghoulish tales, legends, television and books. Take a look at the most popular television shows and movies of 2011 to see what Halloween costumes kids and adults will be wearing on October 31st.

Whatever was big in theaters during 2011 will be seen at parties and on the streets this October 31st. This will include both villains and heroes from popular franchises. Take a look at what was popular in the past few years as well. Younger siblings will be recycling some of these when they get big enough. If a video game is popular, recognizable characters from your game console might also appear.

It does not matter whether the wearer is an adult or a child. With make-up and accessories, almost anyone can be transformed into a hideous beast or a youthful character. This includes live action examples and the animated ones. Some individuals will also swap gender, with boys dressing like girls and the other way around.

Other characters never really go out of style with a particular age group. These include sparkly princesses, goofy dogs, and cookie-eating critters. Killers, vampires, and ghouls come out of ghastly closets complete with weapons or teeth that drip blood. The main thing to remember is to keep safe during all of the fun.

For example, long dresses and capes are very attractive or sinister depending on the role being played. When youth wear these to go trick-or-treating, however, they can be impractical, even dangerous. The number of steps they have to climb in the dark could lead to accidents. If there is any snow or rain on the ground, hems will become wet and cold. Adults sometimes accompany their children as they solicit for sweets, and if they are wearing costumes too, the same rules apply. Even more important is being seen at night by all drivers, so either carry a glow stick or wear reflective accessories.

Adults need to be careful too. Some will try to fit into dresses with tiny waists, or their clothes will be tight around the neck to keep with a particular look. This can lead to light-headedness and embarrassment. Rooms filled with people become stuffy too, so make or buy a disguise which provides some kind of venting. Better yet, opt for light fabrics which breathe.

Several shops carry accessories to help consumers with finishing touches. These include hair color, for example. If yours is too light for the role you want to play, do not feel as though only a hair dresser can look after this with an expensive dye. Inexpensive boxed products will do a temporary job, or you could purchase a wig. The advantage of this last choice is that you can wear it again, or even wear it at some other time during the year.

This will be found among the accessories in the seasonal section of a department store among the Halloween costumes. Costume shops also carry items such as wigs. Sometimes you can rent a product, such as a hat or wand. Regular make-up will be satisfactory for some disguises, but face paints are much more vivid. They are the ideal choice for transforming your face into something out of a cartoon.
