Our most notorious and nefarious metal band are gearing up to release their darkest, most dastardly album of all, titled Godspeed on the Devil’s Thunder on October 27th. The album, which will have a special edition with an extra disc and bonus material, arrives just in time for Halloween, a day to fit Cradle of Filth’s blackened, ghostly aesthetic. The album is conceptual and is based on the true-life fall from grace of a shadowy historical figure named Gilles de Rais, a wealthy French nobleman who was one of Joan of Arc’s brothers-in-arms. He was accused of a panoply of crimes, among them heresy, demonology and kidnapping. Regardless of viewpoint, leave it to Cradle of Filth to dissect de Rais’ biography, exploring subversive, inflammatory historical subject matter in its lyrics, taking an unjaundiced look at a controversial figure in European history, set to epic black metal music. The band profiled Hungarian countess Elizabeth Bathory, who attempted to preserve her youth by bathing in the blood of virgins, in the past and now moves forward by framing their latest album around the story of de Rais. Featuring a star-studded line up of celebrity voices, Scooby-Doo & The Goblin King tells the story of Shaggy and Scooby-Doo as they embark on a magic quest to save the Mystery Inc. Scooby-Doo & The Goblin King follows that lovable Great Dane Scooby-Doo and his pal Shaggy as they try to stop a second-rate carnival magician named the Amazing Krudsky (Wayne Knight) from turning everyone into horrible Halloween monsters after he steals the light magic from Princess Fairy Willow (Hayden Panettiere). Scooby-Doo and Shaggy board the Grim Reaper Railroad, which is bound for the fantastic world of Halloween land, to retrieve the powerful Goblin scepter from the Goblin King (Tim Curry) before Krudsky can. Kids will be swept into the spirit of the season enjoying their favorite Halloween characters such as the Headless Horseman and Jack O’Lantern as they watch them interact with the Mystery Inc. Aside from its debut on DVD, the Scooby-Doo & The Goblin King has also been scheduled for national broadcast in the Fall of 2008 on the Cartoon Network. More Halloween News

It’s nowhere near ready, but fan reaction was intense for the fourth instalment in the Terminator franchise at Comic-Con. I always like to put it in front of the people who care the most. I want to share the film with the passionate and we can do that down here. And to get that response really galvanised our efforts, made us feel like we were doing the right thing. I already reached out to Christian who was in Japan talking about The Dark Knight . On the day of the hunt, the morning was slow though the bucks had just begun to chase does in the area that week. My hunting partner radioed me to let me know he had seen a huge buck chasing a doe just out of bow range and that I needed to keep an eye out. I stowed my arrows along with my release and the rest of my gear in the pack. Slowly, I looked over my shoulder to see a 10-point buck working a scrape with purpose - the buck had no clue I was nearly on top of it. I felt blessed that day to hunt with good friends and to take a healthy 10-point buck in an area where we do not get many opportunities to take big deer with bows. More Halloween News
