It’s been decided because the front-runner for the job, redshirt freshman Robert Marve , is suspended for getting arrested last Halloween for “resisting arrest without violence and minor criminal mischief” according to the Miami Herald. The dubious part of this isn’t Marve’s actions (though it certainly sounds like he had a moment of stupidity), it’s that Miami coach Randy Shannon waited until this month to spring the punishment on him. But to a player, it’s easy to see how it might seem a little ridiculous that an incident that occurred more than nine months ago is being brought up now to mete out discipline. So aside from dubious decision-making on all fronts, it’s just one more piece of evidence it might be a good idea for football coaches to keep their players under wraps on Halloween — especially this year, when it lands on a Friday. The creature everyone has been calling Bigfoot has been examined and the DNA Results are in for the monster from the woods of Georgia. The claimed Sasquatch gained a lot of attention this week as two hunters claimed to have found the legendary Bigfoot and they had photos and video of the ape looking creature shoved in a deep freeze posted all over the World Wide Web. One sample of the DNA that was submitted was that of a human and with just a touch of opossum mixed in for good measure. Many observers believe that the widely shown photo of the alleged creature is nothing more than a Halloween costume and are calling the finding a hoax. She phoned 911 while she was driving home hoping to get some emergency medical help for the birth but the little baby had other ideas and she was ready to come into the world and right this instant. You can be the coolest one at this year’s Halloween party by dressing up like Speed Racer’s Racer X on Halloween? I like to think that, as adults/college students now, we have matured past the point of exacting physical retaliation upon someone whom we don’t like simply because of the way they look or the things they like to do. That being said, if someone came to my party dressed as Racer X on Halloween, I would punch him right in the solar plexus and probably set him on fire. I feel like it would be more apropos to give Racer X some money rather than a sound beating — his movie didn’t really do so well. Our most notorious and nefarious metal band are gearing up to release their darkest, most dastardly album of all, titled Godspeed on the Devil’s Thunder on October 27th. The album, which will have a special edition with an extra disc and bonus material, arrives just in time for Halloween, a day to fit Cradle of Filth’s blackened, ghostly aesthetic. The album is conceptual and is based on the true-life fall from grace of a shadowy historical figure named Gilles de Rais, a wealthy French nobleman who was one of Joan of Arc’s brothers-in-arms. He was accused of a panoply of crimes, among them heresy, demonology and kidnapping. Regardless of viewpoint, leave it to Cradle of Filth to dissect de Rais’ biography, exploring subversive, inflammatory historical subject matter in its lyrics, taking an unjaundiced look at a controversial figure in European history, set to epic black metal music. The band profiled Hungarian countess Elizabeth Bathory, who attempted to preserve her youth by bathing in the blood of virgins, in the past and now moves forward by framing their latest album around the story of de Rais.
