Ways For Making Simple Easter Bunny Costumes
Bunny costumes can be used for both Easter and Halloween. While professional costumes can be expensive, especially for adults, you will find that making your own costume is an easy process.
An easy way to make the costume without sewing is to begin using gray sweats. The sweats form the body of the suit. Other than the sweats including a hooded shirt without a zipper, you will need fusible web, pink or white felt and material that matches the sweats to form the ears.
The bunny can have either a white or pink belly. The belly can be cut from felt and attached using fusible web. Fusible web turns any material into an iron on material. Follow the package directions to attach the web to the felt and then the felt to the sweatshirt. It is okay for the oval of felt to extend beyond the bottom of the sweatshirt.
Ears can also be made with the fusible web. The outer part of the ear should match the material of the sweats and the inner ear should match the belly. If you want stiff ears that stand up, they can be attached to an inexpensive hair band and slits cut through the hood to allow the ears to poke out. The inner and outer ear should both be attached to an interfacing using the fusible web. Floppy ears do not need the interfacing and can be attached directly to the hood.
The tail can be made from a large pompom which you should be able to purchase at a craft or fabric store. If you do not find the pompom, you can make your own using yarn and directions found online. In addition, you could simply glue on a large ball of polyester fiber fill to make a fluffy tail.
Use face makeup to add whiskers to the persons face and a black nose. The best way to make costumes appear authentic is to have the right attitude and you will be judged to be one of the best bunny costumes at the party.
