Chants will meet Tigers in '09 - Myrtle Beach Sun News- Halloween News

Coastal Carolina football coach David Bennett stands between the mascots of CCU and Clemson after it was announced the schools would meet on Halloween night in 2009 in Death Valley. Bennett started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Clemson in 1985 and ‘86, helping the Tigers win the Atlantic Coast Conference championship in his second season. After opening 2008 at Penn State, they will travel to Kent State for the 2009 opener, giving the Chanticleers two FBS games in one season. Coastal will play at Georgia in 2011 and is negotiating with several FBS schools to play in 2010, 2012 and 2013, CCU Athletics Director Moose Koegel said. Coastal will receive $305,000 - split between cash and a ticket allotment the school can sell to its fans - for the 2009 trip to Clemson. The school will receive payouts of $450,000 from Penn State, $350,000 from Kent State and $475,000 from Georgia, funds that will be used to offset the costs of summer school tuition and equipment upgrades within Coastal’s program.
