The title, which the release claims is the "bloodiest, creepiest game EA has ever made," tells the story of a group of space miners who unearth a horrific evil and are subsequently devoured. As Isaac Clarke (presumably the greatest space miner to ever swing a hyper-pick) it’s your job to wander the darkened corridors of their ship, be continually surprised by any and all noises and eventually save the world from the unspeakable evil. Overall the plot is pretty typical survival horror fare, only without the added kink of the Silent Hill series or the wacky Japanese-isms of the Resident Evil games. Outside of Eternal Darkness and the original Alone in the Dark , American survival horror titles have been largely terrible, so while I’d like to be extremely excited for Dead Space’s combination of "death" and "space," I just can’t let myself fall to the preliminary hype. As an aside, what was the "bloodiest, creepiest game EA has ever made" prior to Dead Space ? Are the creepy designs highly derivative of a big budget American movie from the past ten years?
