Mark McIntyre credits a favorite elementary school teacher with inspiring him to travel abroad and collect masks. McIntyre, 34, of DeWitt, said the teacher loved to travel and always shared her adventures with the students. McIntyre, an art teacher at Tecumseh Elementary in the Jamesville-DeWitt school district, creates a papier-mache mask, along with a costume each year to wear in the Halloween parade with his pupils. He doesn’t reveal his character until the day of the parade, which stirs a lot of excitement, McIntyre said. I thought it would be cool if every year I started this tradition of making a mask and the kids wouldn’t know what it was until that day. The first one I made was a goblin’s mask, inspired by a children’s book called ‘Rainbow Goblins. More Halloween News
