SANTA ANAA Huntington Beach man who claimed he had delusions that his landlady put a witchcraft spell on him was sentenced to 26 years to life today for the stabbing death of his roommate on Halloween 2005. Vladimir Benitez, 28, was convicted of first-degree murder and found legally sane last month for killing Camilo Martinez-Santiago, 32, in the living room of a boarding house where both men were staying. Senior Deputy District Attorney Sonia Balleste, however, argued that Benitez planned and premeditated the slaying after he learned he was about to be evicted from the boarding house. Balleste said Benitez left the Huntington Beach house for several days, but returned on Halloween 2005, grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Martinez-Santiago as he slept. More Halloween News
