Patterson Park has undergone an amazing renaissance in the last decade, and I have been lucky enough to watch (and maybe even help a bit with) that change. Like most of the other celebrators, I have little idea how the Friends of Patterson Park (FOPP) managed to spearhead the pagoda’s restoration. With that goal in mind, the Baltimore City Parks Department and non-profit organization Parks & People are partnering to put on a program to help other park advocate groups get off the ground. The first workshop, which is about how to get non-profit status for an organization, is hosted by FOPP Executive Director Tim Almaguer, who has written a book about Patterson Park .
