The gangster costumes were not popular until 1930’s. That is also the beginning of the popularity of gangster and criminal movies. Since then, you could really see people mimicking their idol characters from the movies. Who wouldn’t want to be a gangster even just for a night? You could be bad and playful even just for Halloween.
In getting a great gangster costume,you might need your father’s permission to borrow one of his clothes. Gangsters usually wear coat and ties. Since it is just a one night event, look your best with one of your fathers shiny black tuxedos. A gangster could always look rich. Do not get those simple Grey or Brown colored suits. They do not look best. Then, find a top hat for your accessory.
For you to get a cool gangster costume, you might need to ransack your father’s cabinet for that. Usually these cynical males wear coats and ties or a tuxedo. You better get the plain black or the striped black and white set if you want to look really good. A gangster can look rich, unless you want to become the common hoodlums. Then, find a top hat like those of MJ’s or a panama hat to make your costume look more playful.
For ladies, you could wear any sophisticated dress you want. Women in gangsters society usually disguise as prostitute or a sexy woman. They wear sexy fitting dresses with slits. Find a black dress with that would really look nice with a black neck tie. Make sure that you know how to mix and match your clothing to still look sophisticated for a gangster.
You could also add some accessories such as a Dollar sign buckle belt, some bangles and jewelries. Do not be afraid to overdo it since it would be a costume party. The party is meant for you to play with your costumes and have fun. Not to think about what is the common norm.
Do not forget the most essential accessory–the gun. You should always carry a toy gun. Men can carry the big ones such as a toy M16 gun, while the female can carry those smaller toy guns that they could carry in their purse. It would also be better for women to have these guns strapped in their thigh. One reason why they should get a slitted dress.
The gangster costumes sound easy to come up with. But you have to check if you are messing with your father’s hundred dollar suit. Always anticipate that Halloween costume party could be messy, and your other friend’s oozing costumes might get into your dress or suit. Thus, if you want to have a costume that you could mess around with, you better buy your gangster costume than making do with what you have at home. It is always better safe than sorry.
When choosing your costume, you must make sure that this is a comfortable outfit. Also, look for a gangster outfit that is easy to find and get an affordable costume that you can easily mess with spilled drinks and food. Through this way, you can have a happier Halloween than having a dull one.
