What Are Evil Jester And Its Costume
Do you have any idea that evil jesters were not really evil? Their image just started to become evil-ized when Joker, an adversary of Batman in one of his comic book series, became popular. Traditionally, they are meant to entertain. Their jester costumes even consist of a happy colored outfit and a motley hat tri-coned hat. The costume rather looks gay than scary.
These jesters were hired and were “licensed” by the court to entertain. Together with their license is their privilage to act foolish and stupid. They were given the authority to be grossly improper in front of the Ladies and Gentlemen of the court without being deviant. In short, they could do whatever they want, proper or improper, just to entertain people. They were even referred as toys and puppets by the upper ton.
In literature, the jesters were symbol of honesty and common sense. Because of their license to act fool they could deliberately criticize their masters, mistress and even guests without being punished. They take advantage of their license to mock and freely speak advice and observation to their monarchs-both great and folly.
Yet these jester costumes were no longer seen starting the Civil War. The new leader does not approve of entertainment. This change has also pulled the theater industry down. Yet a new set of jester-like people emerge–the Baffoons. They still wear colored clothing like the jester costumes, but without the motley hat. They paint their face really silly because that is how they entertain people. These Baffoons were soon little by little changed into ‘CLOWNS’.
However, nowadays, these jesters were no longer amusing. They are more like of an evil jester. Evil Jester Costumes are more salable during Halloweens rather than the Happy Jesters. They are now scary and playfull. They were thought to be the scary version of a clown these days. If clowns were to make people happy, jesters are for Halloweens and Friday the 13th. Indeed, nowadays, the clowns have become the friendly version of the evil jester. They are those who wears happy clothes, colorful ridiculous make-up and colorful hair. Therefore, the clown is the friendly version of an evil jester nowadays. While the jesters were either just the classic jokers, or nowaday’s evil jesters.
